How to wash a jacket with a membrane without spoiling it

If you properly care for the membrane, the clothes made of it will last a long time keeping all its properties.

Upon washing, clothes often lose their attractive appearance, and your winter clothes also lose their propertiesthat keep you warm in a cold season. Therefore, the question is, how to wash a jacket with a membrane while keeping its main features:

  • moisture protection; wind protection;
  • body heat preservation;
  • sweat vapors release.

It is easy when you follow recommendations.

All washing precautions for similar products are identical.

  • Machine washing at no more than 800 RPM.
  • Use special detergents for membrane fabric, as ordinary detergent particles block the pores of the membrane, damaging its structure. As a result, the clothes lose their protective properties.

Before washing you should check the washing recommendations on the label. All zippers, pockets, and buttons must be fastened. Make sure you left no objects left in the pockets that could affect the washing process or damage your clothes. Thoroughly clean the dispenser from the remains of detergent and rinse liquid. Do not pour fabric conditioners or washing gel directly into the tank, use a dispenser. Pour the exactamount indicated on the detergent pack.

Note: for a longer service life of the product, it is best to hand-wash your membrane clothes at 30-40℃

Six “don’ts” when washing membrane clothes

  1. Don’t use aggressive detergents and softeners to avoid damaging the delicate fabric.
  2. Don’t neglect the washing temperature marked on the label.
  3. Do not use automatic dryers.
  4. Do not dry clean your clothes.
  5. Do not bleach.
  6. Do not soak before washing.

Care of the membrane fabric upon washing

  • Wring lightly after washing. Do not twist the fabric. Use light wringing mode for the washing machine.
  • Smooth out wrinkles and let your membrane clothes dry in a horizontal position at room temperature.

Warning! Never iron the membrane fabric. High temperatures damage the structure of the fabric. Lightly ironthe lining with a barely warm iron instead.

Membrane clothes require special fluoride spray treatment to create a film that does not prevent air circulation. This restores the water-repellent properties of the upper layer making it ready again for intensive use. It is recommended to store your clothes hung unfolded, as far as possible from moisture, direct sunlight, and strong-smelling substances.
